About Adonae

Adonae is a free fitness and nutrition app for Android, made by one person — here's who, why, and where the unusual name comes from.

Why I built it

I'm Sam. I built Adonae because the app I wanted didn't exist: my training lived in one app, my food in another, my weight in a third — and every one of them either paywalled my own history behind a subscription or quietly shipped it off to a server I'd never see.

Meanwhile the thing I actually cared about — is my body changing? — none of them could answer. The scale is the worst possible witness during a recomp: lose fat, gain muscle, and it reports that nothing happened. The real evidence lives in your body fat, your muscle, your strength and your smoothed weight trend, read together. So that's what Adonae does: workouts, calories and protein, and body measurements in one place, turned into a plain-language verdict on whether this month is beating the last.

Two principles were non-negotiable. The core is free, always — logging your food and workouts, barcode scanning and progress tracking never go behind a paywall; a small Adonae Pro subscription funds the extras that cost real money to run, like photo meal estimates, and every new account gets its first week of Pro free. And it's private by design — your data is private to your own account, never sold or shared, backed up securely and synced across your devices, and yours to delete at any time.

Who's behind it

Just me — I build software independently as Kaspasejo. No team, no investors, and no data business hiding behind a free app. If Adonae helps you, the Support section in Settings has a tip jar; that's the entire business model.

The name: from Adonis, made plural

In Greek mythology, Adonis is the figure whose name became shorthand for physical beauty and vitality — so much so that "an Adonis" entered everyday English. That was the right starting point for an app about building a body you're proud of, but the myth has an obvious problem as a namesake: Adonis is one man.

Adonae reshapes the name with an ending that reads as plural — echoing Greek plural forms — so it isn't one mythological man anymore. It's everyone who trains: women and men, the many rather than the one. The aesthetic ideal, opened up and shared.

That's also why the app's design leans Greek — the meander-key mark you'll see throughout it is drawn from the same classical world the name comes from.
